Amos Orcutt

Amos is President Emeritus of the University of Maine Foundation, Orono, Maine. As President he was responsible for the Foundation's operation as the chief executive officer, retiring in 2012. The University of Maine Foundation manages over $200 million in assets and is responsible for charitable giving at the University of Maine.

Prior to that time, he was an executive with Liberty Group, Inc., a real estate development and management company in Portland, Maine and previously worked 19 years for the USDA Farmers Home Administration in Orono as the State Multi-Family Housing Coordinator, Senior Loan Officer and Real Estate Appraiser.

Amos graduated in the Class of 1960 from the Walter Gardner/Bucksport High School and from the University of Maine in 1964 with a BS degree from the College of Natural Sciences, Forestry and Agriculture (NSFA).   During his employment with USDA Farmers Home Administration, he received numerous outstanding employee and program awards and was recognized by the Washington, DC Office as having one of the most outstanding multi-family house programs in the nation.

Amos is a past national president and treasurer of the Society of Institutionally-Related Foundations (SIRF) which is a national organization committed to fostering relationships and support between foundations and their institutions. He has written an article for Foundation Focus News for and about institutionally-related foundations and Case Currents, published by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.

He is a past board member and treasurer of the Planned Giving Group of New England which is comprised of over 350 New England Charitable Organizations who meet monthly in Boston, an association of charitable gift planning professionals started in 1970.

Amos was/is an active member of Rotary International, Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity, The Katahdin Area CouncilBoy Scouts of America, and Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR).

Amos’s father, Ralph Orcutt, and two brothers, Bill and Earl, worked in the mill as well as many uncles and cousins totaling more than 12 mill workers.

Amos currently owns and operates Great Pond Mountain Farm, Orland, which comprises of 90 acres of "Maine Wild" blueberries and forest land.
