Recently Steve Bishop, of Bishop’s Auto Body, refurbished the old, rusty horn that was on the exterior of the gatehouse building and also repaired a rusted out door frame.

December 17, 2024 was the 10th anniversary of the closing of the Bucksport paper mill. The mill museum held two open house events to commemorate this anniversary.

This poem was written by Pat Ranzoni as an expression of gratitude in honor of the Thanksgiving holiday in 2024.

It was a raw, windy night with some citizens still without power when the Bucksport Town Council commenced taking up business beginning with a resolve in remembrance of the December 17, 2014 last shift and closing of the Bucksport paper mill.

The Bucksport Paper Mill Museum will hold an open house event to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the mill’s closing on December 17, 3-6PM, at the former mill gatehouse building at 4 Mariner Way. 

On Friday, November 15, insulation work was completed on the walls of the gatehouse building.

The Silvernail Foundation is pleased to announce a $25,000 donation to help establish the Bucksport Mill Museum. 

On a shivery October 29, 2024 work morning at the still unheated gatehouse, renovation crew member Ed Ranzoni served apple pie to celebrate his 85th birthday.

Volunteers gathered on Tuesday, September 24, to continue working on the mill gatehouse building under the direction of Restoration Foreman Chip Stubbs.

On Thursday, September 12, 2024, students from the Reach School visited the Bucksport Paper Mill Museum to see the artifacts currently on display.

The Bucksport Paper Mill Museum held a soft opening event on Labor Day, Monday, September 2, and the following day Tuesday, September 3. The event provided a chance for the public to see the work that has been done on the gatehouse building so far.

Former workers from the Bucksport Paper Mill gathered for a 10th anniversary reunion.

Interested in getting an early look at the Bucksport Paper Mill Museum? The gatehouse building will be open to the public on Labor Day, Monday, September 2, 10am to 5pm, and the following day, Tuesday, September 3, from 10am to 2pm.

Among the artifacts on display at the museum are heirloom lunch baskets and pails carried by former mill workers. The first basket was hung by Wesley “Chip” Stubbs, Mill Museum Restoration Foreman, on August 20 and was the basket carried by his father Charlton P. Stubbs.

The Bucksport Paper Mill Museum is seeking donations of mill workers' lunch pails. These will be suspended from the ceiling of the museum with the name of the worker and the dates of his or her employment written on the pail.

At the Bucksport Town Council meeting on August 8, 2024, artist Ben Lincoln presented his drawing, Decommissioning, which depicts the early stages of the demolition of the Bucksport Paper Mill.

Members of the Bucksport Paper Mill Museum Working Group gave a presentation at the Prospect Historical Society meeting.
