The purpose of this Society shall be to bring together those people interested in history, and especially in the history of Bucksport, Maine and area.

The historical society operates a local history museum located at 92 Main Street and holds events, such as the Historic Homes Tour. The society also owns the Bucksport Paper Mill that is scheduled to open to the public in 2025.
