Interested in getting an early look at the progress being made at the Bucksport Paper Mill Museum? The gatehouse building will be open to the public on Labor Day, Monday, September 2, 10am to 5pm, and the following day, Tuesday, September 3, from 10am to 2pm. The building is located at the former site of the Bucksport paper mill.

The event will kick off at 10am on Monday with Ernie Smith piping his "Papermakers Lament, a Scottish Air". Attendees can meet across the road to join a procession in remembrance of the crossing of mill workers during a shift change. Poetry and brief remarks will follow in the gatehouse building and light refreshments will be served.

Among the artifacts on display at the museum are heirloom lunch baskets and pails carried by former mill workers. The first basket was hung by Wesley “Chip” Stubbs, Mill Museum Restoration Foreman, on August 20 and was the basket carried by his father Charlton P. Stubbs.
