Larry Wahl

My name is Lawrence Wahl and I moved to Orland in 1977 from upstate New York. I now reside in Bucksport with my partner of 20 years, Leslie Gifford, since 2009. My claim to fame is previous owner of the Dairy Port for 38 years, selling the business in 2019 and acquiring Wilson Hall which I have been restoring for the last 5+ years. I am a lifetime member of the Bucksport Historical Society, serving as a Board Director, and a member of the Bucksport Paper Mill Museum Working Group serving as a building restoration volunteer and restoration consultant as well as providing fundraising services.

Along with being a Bucksport businessman for 43 years, I sit on the Bucksport Community and Economic Development and the Cemetery Committees. I am Vice President of the Board of Trustees for the Buck Memorial Library and a board member of the Bucksport Area Cultural Arts Society (BACAS). I am a member of the Bucksport Garden Club, Northeast Historic Film, Friends of Fort Knox and the Great Pond Mountain Conservation Trust, as well as a lifetime member of the Orland Historical Society and a 45+ year member of the Rising Sun Lodge in Orland.

I have a passion for old buildings, a steward for two that are on the National Register of Historic Places, Wilson Hall and the Heywood House. Plus, I am involved with two others that are on the “Register” - The Buck Memorial Library and the Historical Society’s Railroad Station Museum. The Paper Mill Museum “Gatehouse” should be as well.
