Once I was hired as a spare, my career blossomed at the mill. My first full-time job was in Accounting. Then I accepted a position in HR where I worked many years providing union correspondence, kept paper and electronic personnel files up to date, as well as assisted with the hiring process. I met and worked with so many wonderful employees in this role! But the pride of my employment was 10+ years being the administrative assistant to the mill manager and the Lead Team. I was trusted and respected and I thoroughly enjoyed working with all the department managers. And just before the papermill was shuttered, I accepted the position of office manager of the still-operating power plant. It was a small but fantastic group of folks to work with. But it was not meant to be that I retired from the mill. In March of 2017, my position was eliminated and after almost 29 years, I finally had to move on. I worked six more years in Bangor as the administrative assistant at a non-profit recovery center and in July of 2023 worked my last day. I can’t say enough good things about being retired!
